About Dan Prudlow - family picture

My name is Dan and I live in the great state of Missouri.  First and foremost I am a Dad to two beautiful girls and husband to my beautiful wife Jen.  My full time job is coding with various software tools for a financial firm and I enjoy my job…most of the time.  Woodworking is a growing hobby and passion and the purpose of this website, my YouTube channel, and other social media is to share projects and ideas and hopefully inspire others.

I grew up following my Dad around all summer watching him tackle different projects and trying to help when I could.  He is a perfectionist and always taught me to do things the right way even if it took a little more time.  I remember one summer helping with building a deck.  The pre-made balusters were just too small and looked flimsy so we cut and ripped 8 foot 2x4s into four balusters each and cut 45 degree miters on each end.  You can image the mountain of sawdust that project created!

I have also had a lot of experience with DIY home renovations as well.  My older brother and I renovated his entire kitchen…new floors, cabinets, etc which really transformed the house.  When my wife and I bought our home in 2011 as a foreclosure we had to remodel much of the house before we even moved in!

My interest in woodworking really started when my Dad gave me his old table saw around the same time we move into our house.  My first big project was a built-in entertainment center and shelving unit in our living room.  I built another entertainment center in our basement a few years later and then converted part of one of the rooms in the basement into a large storage area.  Pictures below are of these projects (click each for a larger view).

Somewhere along the line…probably in 2015…I was looking for some simple projects and stumbled upon the likes of Jay Bates, Marc Spagnuolo (The Wood Whisperer), John Heisz, and others on YouTube and I really started to get interested in doing more and more projects.  My shop is our small two car garage and the centerpiece is my SawStop PCS.  It was a huge investment but I figured if I was going to be doing this for a long time it was worth the piece of mind knowing that extra level of safety is there.

In January of 2017 I decided to start a YouTube channel to share my projects with the world!  I’m also active on Instagram and Twitter.  You can find links below to all three.  I hope you will get subscribed and follow along and I hope you will be inspired to build something cool of your own.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me, either through the Contact page or via social media.
